BJP announces pre-poll alliance with Nishad Party
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday announced a pre-poll pact with NISHAD Party led by Sanjay Nishad for the coming 2022 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and also emphasised that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would be the party’s face in the coming state elections.

The announcement was made by BJP UP election incharge and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Lucknow on Friday.

State BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, NISHAD Party president Sanjay Nishad, BJP vice-president and incharge of organisation in UP -Radha Mohan Singh, and UP minister Sidharth Nath Singh were also present on the occasion.

Reminding that Apna Dal (Sonelal) led by Union minister Anupriya Patel was already in alliance with the BJP, Pradhan said that the details of the alliance, including seat sharing, would be announced at a later date.

"We are making a formal announcement today that the NISHAD Party will contest elections in alliance with BJP in the coming assembly polls. Here I categorically clarify that the party will go to the next state elections with the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath," he said.

Pradhan said that during his three-day visit to the state after being appointed poll incharge, several meetings were held with party leaders and workers to discuss the poll strategy.

"We continue to adopt the policy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aur Sabka Vishwas and will continue to go forward taking everyone with us. During my regime as Union petroleum minister, Ujjawala 1.0 Scheme was launched from Uttar Pradesh, under which eight crore people were given free LPG cylinders. Now, Ujjawala 2.0 has also been launched from UP and it will benefit over one crore people,” he said.

Replying to a question on farmers’ agitation and how it would impact the Uttar Pradesh elections, the Union minister said that the BJP had worked for the welfare of farmers. “Small and marginal farmers stand benefitted from the Union government’s policy on organic farming and other welfare schemes. They will support the BJP wholeheartedly.”

Further detailing the works done for farmers’ welfare in Uttar Pradesh, Pradhan said that the policy to blend ethanol with petrol was brought by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 2004 but it was not implemented by the successive state governments headed by the Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party during their tenures.

"The policy was enforced in 2014 when ethanol worth Rs 480 crore was purchased, but by 2021 the sales exceeded Rs 20,000 crore, which directly benefited the cane farmers of the state," he said.
